1. Catch a movie at the art house Vinegar Hill (220 W. Market St., 434-977-4911)
2. Tour the Grounds of the University of Virginia. ( Call 434-924-7969 for information on times and locations.)
3. Stop by Miller's (109 W. Main St., 434-971-8511), where Dave Matthews tended bar, for last call.
4. Have a frozen custard at Kohr Brothers, (1881 Seminole Trail, Woodbrook Shopping Village) and ride the carosel (little kids only!)
5. Cruise the Skyline Drive for spectacular views. Call Blue Ridge Mountain Sports, 434-977-4400, for hiking suggestions before you go. 

6. Browse New Dominion Bookshop (404 E. Main St., 434-295-2552). It's John Grisham's favorite.|
7. Stroll the Charlottesville City Market (Water St. next to Mono Loco's Restaurant.) on Sat. mornings May through Oct. for the freshest produce, flowers and baked goods.
8. Lunch at the Inn at Court Square (410 E. Jefferson St., 434-295-2800), downtown's oldest house (1785).
9. Visit Ragged Mountain Running Shop (Elliwood Ave. over Eljo's) to get your running/walking gear and information on area trails and training programs.
10. Shop til you drop at Barrack's Road Shopping Center, followed by Cafe au lait at Greenberry's. 
 

11. Visit Carter's Orchards (Rt. 53 E.) to pick apples, peaches and capture the scenic view at the top of the mountain.
12. Drink locally brewed Route 66 root beer, made with chicory, fennel, and anise.
13. Take in a concert at Friday's After Five (April-Oct.) and dine al fresco at one of the many downtown eateries.
14. Tour one or more of the area's fine wineries or attend one of the many wine festivals.
15. Take a guided tour of Monticello, the neoclassical residence of Thomas Jefferson.

17. Ice Skate At Charlottesville's new indoor Ice Park located on the historic downtown mall, open year round.
18. Go canoeing, rafting or tubing At James River Runners in Scottsville. Canoeing and rafting season, March - October. Tubing season, May - September. 7 days/week. 804-286-2338.
19. Horseback Riding Treat yourself to an exciting (tailored to your skill level) trail ride at Mountain View Stables with Don and Kate Galloway. Check them out by calling 540-949-5346.
20. Shop for antiques, pottery and handicrafts All around Charlottesville and surrounding counties.
